Your First Game
The game runs for 7 rounds. Each round has the same shape:
1. Beginning of the Round
Section titled “1. Beginning of the Round”A new realm opens. Then both players:
- Gain energy equal to the round number (round 5 = +5 energy), plus 1 for each stone they control.
- Gain 3 actions.
- Trigger any “On Round Start” or “On Round N” effects.
- Draw 1 card.
2. Take Turns
Section titled “2. Take Turns”Players alternate turns. On your turn, you can spend an action to:
- Draw a card.
- Play a card (paying its energy cost).
- Attack with all your Wonders in one realm.
- Activate an ability that requires an action.
You can also use free actions (tap free, sacrifice free, free attack, attuned, harvest) — these don’t cost an action — or simply pass.
Tip: Lands cost 1 action to play but give energy discounts on cards of their orbital and unlock “core” cards. Don’t sleep on lands.
3. Battles
Section titled “3. Battles”When you attack, both sides total their Wonders’ power. Higher power wins and seizes a stone. Ties don’t move stones, but “on battle” effects still trigger. See 404.3.2 Battle Timing for the full step-by-step.
4. End of the Round
Section titled “4. End of the Round”When all players pass consecutively, the round ends:
- Unspent energy and actions are lost.
- Discard down to 7 cards.
- Round-specific effects (“this round,” temporary nullify, etc.) end.
The next round begins immediately. Whoever last seized a stone takes the first turn.
5. Winning
Section titled “5. Winning”After round 7, count stones. Most stones wins. In a draw, the player controlling the lowest-numbered realm with a single controller wins; otherwise the draw stands.
